Please <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bruecrew.org\/wp-admin\/please%20let%20us%20know\">tell us here<\/a> if you can help. You can register at Eventbrite or email info@bruecrew.org \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Volunteers should arrive at 9 am for a briefing, by the riverside benches at the Patwell Lane end of Church Bridge. Local stone will have been delivered into the river early in the morning, and our job is to create two teardrop shaped berms, under the expert\u00a0 direction of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wildtrout.org\/\">Wild Trout Trust<\/a> \u2013 Think horizontal dry (or wet?) stone walling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">This work party suits energetic gardeners, builders or sportspeople \u2013 please bring a few friends, or encourage those you know to join us, as many hands make light work! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">We recommend waders and stout gloves. Wellies may be sufficient if the flow is low on Saturday. Expect to finish early afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The two stone berms will deflect water towards the northern arch (at Church Bridge Stores\u2019 end of the bridge), \u2018Slowing the Flow\u2019 to reduce flash flood risk through Bruton. Berms vary the flow through the canalised town centre, and also provide good habitats for invertebrates and fish.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Materials have been funded by a \u00a31,000 <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fwagsw.org.uk\/hills-to-levels\">Hills to Levels<\/a><\/i> capital grant from Somerset Rivers Authority.
